I bought an expensive Dyson "pet" vacuum a few years ago, and for all its claims, still burnt out on my dog's undercoat detritus. Oh well. (I haven't found a vacuum yet that will handle that stuff in the amounts he produces, and I'm on my sixth model.)

But this looks cool (NPI) and innovative. The price will come down as the market adjusts.

Mythbusters built one of these on the cheap a while ago. They pointed it downward, and used it as a hovering device - which works because of the significant downward airflow it creates.
