While I admit there is a very high potential for abuse, it can be a really good thing if done correctly. Kind of on the fence on it I guess.

Hmmm,

Lets anylize this. It's OK, with a court issued warrent to tap a suspects telephone but we shouldn't use technology, with a court order, to let the police know where his car is???

Are we getting to the point where we'll have an automatic pananoia response to these things?

Here's my fear about it.

Planting drugs. Planting weapons. Planting other illegal things inside the car.

I don't like the idea that they can go into the car. I would be ok if they put it outside the car somehow, but not inside.
