Hmmm I'm not convinced.

Studies haven't shown that circumcision "helps prevent", they simply showed that "more uncircumcised men had one of the diseases".

In countries like Uganda it's already hard enough for people to accept and test for HIV, an intense study regarding the spread of the disease using 4,000 people just doesn't really put trust in me.

And I'm not just speculating on an African country based on the news and stuff, I lived in Ghana for 5 years, very similar to Uganda, and I've seen how it works over there.

I don't care. There are other methods of preventing these diseases. Mutilation is not an option.

If this were presented as an excuse for female genital mutilation it would be denounced here in the west.

Cut or uncut, keeping it tucked in your pants is 100% effective against contracting anything.

So is being careful with your sexual partners, and it also doesn't hurt as much as getting bits chopped off it.

So would being circumcised make you more willing to have sex with someone with AIDS or herpes? No? Then what does it matter? Most people clean themselves up anyways before doing the naughty, so why would there ever be anything gross in the foreskin? Stop trying to justify hacking off of a part of your son's penises. It's just stupid.

I agree with Ank, Pocky and Dav.

I suppose there isn't a way of conducting and experiment regarding this in controlled circumstances, but the evidence presented does not convince me that genital mutilation is a worthwhile "medical" procedure.
