It just occurred to me that although there is an Xbox Thread, a PS3 Thread and even a lesser visited Wii Thread but not a plain and straight forward gaming thread.

Until now that is.

For the most part, there's little to tell Xbox, PC an PS3 games apart, so why be exclusive.

Given the nature of some fanbois though, I want to make it clear that there is no room at all for "the console that I bought that was manufactured by a multi-national corporation that I have no involvement or investment in is better than the console that you bought that was manufactured by a different multi-national corporation that you have no involvement or investment in because they are slightly different" arguments.

And yes, that is what each and every one of them, and so by extension most of Digg boils down to.

So, games you like, games you are waiting for, games you remember, games you never played.

OK, that last one might me a bit sparse.

Not surprisingly I had a more narrow context for starting this thread.

Punthe made a comment that intrigued me here and I wanted to know more.

Punthe, I've always regarded PC gaming as just one facet of the gaming genre, not that different to consoles. You appear to feel different.

Care to elaborate?

I'm going to bed now, but I shall return in the near future to explain my opinion.

(btw, why did you mention the XBOX thread before the PS3 thread? Biased much? kidding, of course)

Just the way I found them in the Forum. Guess the Xbox one is more popular and not sitting 3 pages back...

And if I were showing bias, it would have been Wii first

Really looking forward to playing Farcry2, Call of Duty 5 and the new Tombraider Underworld.

Also I've been told I need to play Bioshock. They're all on my Christmas list

You do.

Everyone does.

It's spectacular.

And only twelve pounds.

I know I'm probably in a small crowd of one here, but I found Far Cry to be tedious and as a result can't sum up any enthusiasm for FC2.

I'm looking forward too (and I know this is geeky) Sims 3. I'm a big Sims fan and the new version just looks so amazing. You have more free roaming in the game, you can actually select personality traits such as Lucky, Clumsy, Arrogant, etc. and the best part is EVERYTHING is customizable. I about died when I saw how they could customize the hair.

So yes, I am geeking out for Feb 2009 to come quickly.

(And if you must know, yes I have made a Plime City in my Sims game *hangs head* I'm a dork)

Is the city a success? I always felt kinda guilty when I made people I knew in real life into Sims and then they got deadbeat jobs or refused to clean the house, or worse, hated the other sims of real people....

That's when you download the inSIMenator and alter their stats manually. :3 Mods were the best part of The Sims.
I can't wait for Champions Online. City of Heroes with more customization? HELL YES!
Aion is also looking wonderful.
...Bah, all the good MMO's won't be out until next year. DX

I got bored of Bioshock. Sure it looks pretty but it gets boring quick. FC2 is nice but it's HUGE and repetative. Fallout 3 is good, choosing the missions you do and joining factions is fun.

Sad as it may seem I am playing Frets on Fire more than any game I have bought for my pc. Currently using the keyboard as I haven't got round to getting a guitar controller yet but hey ho.

Anyone got any suggestions for new games? I like fps and scary games (such as the silent hill series and FEAR)?

I used to be a big Sims fan, but I got so ridiculously addicted to it that I had to drop it completely. That's all I spent my time doing.

I still play a couple of old Mario games on SNES but not enough to even be in this thread.

Yeah, yeah, I'm going now.

Horses for courses, I guess - I loved it. Killing the Big Daddies got a little bit repetitive, I felt. Not a lot of strategy or cunning involved, just persistence.

But other than that, I gave it two thumbs up.

The hugeness was in part what annoyed me about FC1. They'd gone to all the trouble to making an engine that could cope with those massive outdoor maps but had forgotten the plot.

I am most defiantly a casual gamer. I have a Wii and a DS and I love them both. I like simulation games and adventure/mystery games. Games where there's little fighting, but lots of puzzles and things. Like some of the Tomb Raider Games. I really liked the last one, and look forward to the new one.

Basically I like to have fun, nothing too serious, or too difficult. I get frustrated easy.

My favourite games are the Phoenix Wright games on the DS. LOVE them. My least favourite.... Probably any first person shooter.

Didn't even need that. Lay a bunch of traps in its path and it dies almost instantly.

I'm waiting for a new Splinter Cell game for the 360. The Splinter Cell series are IMO the most perfect games I've ever played. A perfect combination of stealth, shooting, killing, brain usage. Amazing games.

The only problem is that the only Splinter Cell games out at the moment are ones I've previously played on the Xbox and PS. Anyone know if there's any plans in the pipeline for a new one?

Ummm, yes.. ;) but mine are still in the closet.

Generally if I'm going to play old games, however. I'm more likely to emulate them on the PC that dig out a console and blow in the cartridge.

I'm mostly a fan of retro games, and don't have much time to invest in playing for an extended period of time, currently you may find me playing tempest 2000 or geometry wars galaxies (jaguar + Wii respectively)
