« ReBoot:As far as I've noticed.
Let's blame Jax then.

Alternatively, I've got something that might help.

I've been playing with Minefield the last couple of days - it's the next version of Firefox - code named Minefield.

It's in it's infancy at the moment, so there might be instabilities going on, but you can get the nightly build here.

Worth a try, see if that makes a difference.

At the very least you can be wowed by the speed for a while.

Ok, so I've isolated the problem to my wireless internet router. Seems when I plug the broadband directly into the computer, I don't have the slightest problem, but as soon as I'm getting it through the router, I can't access certain sites. I've also discovered that it affects more than just Plime. Eh.

Very weird.

Might be something blocking specific addresses (or address parts).

You could try rummaging around in the guts of it, or alternatively a factory reset might be worth a try.

Is it a good router, or just the one the phone company sent?

Not surprisingly, I'm being a dumbass.

I've got a DVD video that I've made in one drive and in my other drive I've got a blank DVD disc.

How the hell do I burn from the DVD with video on it to the blank disc in the 2nd drive?

I've clicked "burn to disc" at the top of the window but it says "No files to burn" even though I know the other DVD has video on it and it works fine.

Am I missing something?

Any help gratefully received.

When all else fails (in Windows)...I just drag stuff around and drop it in other stuff.

I'm not a huge geek, but have you tried swapping the discs around? Is your "Target" and "Burn from", if you get me, assigned right?

My Vista "burn to disc" feature doesn't work either. To be fair it's a windows app and with all things microsoft there are usually other free apps that do it just as well.

We use winavi to make dvds and it has a disc to disc copy function. (I think)

I haven't tried that yet but I will with the next disc, I've got to burn over a 100 so I've got plenty of time to experiment ;]

I've not used a duel drive before and it's a new comp so I'm still trying to figure my way around it lol.

Thanks for the that, I'll let you know if it works

I think I may need to purchase a duplicator as this is gonna take forever!

Yeh, I had that on my old comp, I may need to try that and see if it's any quicker, cos this is taking ages :(

*edit* The drag and drop method has just transfered the video files but hasn't burnt a DVD video that can be played. Confused now :(

Are both drives DVD burners? There ARE drives that will read DVD/CD and burn CD's but not burn DVD's.

I got my new interwebz installed last week by Cablevision (I hate them ). They installed a modem that only supports a single ethernet connection. Bad. I have 2 computers.

I need to buy a wireless router today so I can set up my personal laptop along with work laptop.

Is the Linksys router the best one? Everyone seems to have one.

Not necessarily the best, but definitely one one of them. I'd go with Linksys if I were going to get a new router.

not sure what your plans are but...

i do not recommend installing the software that comes with the router.

instead setup your network via the default ip:

192.168.1.1

i think the default password is: admin

leave the username blank.

Have you tried "rebooting" the rooter. Not sure, but your router could be blocking things randomly. I've something similar happen. Try resetting the router so it resets the settings and everything. Not that I know anything.

What Pock said.

the software was crap last time i used it. Very buggy and very limited. There were issues with wireless security settings/encryption and also issues with adding additional computers to the network.

I need to have 2 computers on the network and one printer.

I definitely want to make sure no one jacks my signal too.

When I start this tomorrow, I'll post again.

At best all the software does is direct a browser to the router's http interface.

At worst it will install all sorts of controls and unnecessary extras that just get in the way.

Doing it manually streamlines things, makes it easier on your computer and gives you more control.
