For those of us who envy the computer skills of our three-year-old children, I present the "I Need A Geek" thread. Post your browser issues, computer problems, and even Plime bugs here, all in one clutter-free location.

Every time I view a forum with an embedded video clip, the forum loads all the way down to the post with the clip and no further. If it does load completely, it takes about five minutes to do so. I use Mozilla Firefox. All of the current add-ons are updated and installed.

What am I doing wrong?

Probably nothing. Some web developers don't program for multiple browsers very efficiently and since IE still has a huge amount of the market share, its not all that important to make things work for everyone.

That's not quite my philosophy though ;)

You could always try reloading flash and quicktime.

Are you sure you have the right video add-on installed? Firefox doesn't support many video formats out of the box.

You could check if its a Firefox issue by installing IE Tab, which will use the Internet Explorer engine to render pages in a Firefox tab. You can find it here

I have a geek...I really wish he was here now so I wouldn't have to replace the lamp in the TV myself. I'm a girl, even though I can I shouldn't have to.

Looks like it was moved to a secure part of the site. I can't see it either.

Every time I move a media file (picture, video, etc.) from one folder to another, it becomes inaccessible. It's still there, I just can't delete it, move it again, or use it. It's getting really annoying. I haven't organized any of my media folders in months because of this.

Your computer has become possessed by a minor demon. This is god's revenge for spurning him so openly. He can be really, really petty. Gives you free will and then b***h-slaps you into the bowels of hell if you make the mistake of using it... But I digress.

What OS are you using and how are you moving stuff?

XP, and I've tried copy/pasting, cut/pasting, dragging/dropping, and DOS moving (or whatever the hell it's called).

I have only seen issues like that in a client/server environment where the user didn't have permission after moving to another folder. I don't imagine that would be an issue. Hmm, must think more. Another issue would be if the system thought the file was in use, then it doesn't like to do anything with it. Are you getting an error message when you try to use/move/etc it?

The file isn't Write protected is it? right click and check properties. Otherwise, if it is only happening with media files I would guess that some s**tty piece of software (itunes?) is running and holding on to the files...These may sound like simple answers but its all I got :P

Alternatively, you could try starting it up in safe mode and seeing if you can do anything there.

Yes, but I have tried moving them while it is on and off. I'm not a complete moron. : P

I don't know about that - You do have iTunes installed. :-P

Try burning a boot disc - I'd suggest either UBCD or Knoppix and see if you can move/delete through that.

If you can, it's purely down to Windows. If you can't, it would suggest that the hard drive is in it's last throws - is it a separate drive that you keep your media on, or is it the boot drive?
